I dreamt of my husband, something that has only happened twice since he is gone. He was standing in a beautiful meadow of overgrown grass far off in the distance. I ran towards him but he just looked at me and walked away. I started to run faster, he turned towards me, smirked and then quickened his pace. I ran faster yet, calling his name but he stopped turning around and I never caught up.

When I would wake up in the morning I’d find him lying in his bed lovingly watching me. I always jumped out of my bed to start my day. The new day was all planned out in the shower the night before. He'd tease me and say, “You are the most annoying person in the world. What’s the rush?” My mother had always told me, "You have more energy than you know what to do with."

As a child I would have recurrent dreams of being chased. The dreams were often and their scenarios absurd. They continued after my marriage. My husband suggested that I talk to his mother, a psychotherapist and dream analyst. I agreed and arranged a time to meet. That night, I dreamt that my mother in law was chasing me, and canceled our meeting for the following morning.

The dreams eventually did stop. But occasionally when I would have a nightmare I’d wake up my husband and he would tell me three times, “It’s a good dream. It’s a good dream. It’s a good dream.”
